It can be heart breaking to watch a child suffer from the consequences of an inability to read adequately. But with a little information, and the right tools, helping them is far easier than you might think. Let me show you what I mean.

Who

Roma Cox is a tutor who has always had phenomenal success when teaching children to read. Encouraged by some parents she now shares her secretes with you in what is now known as "Ring Around the Phonics".

Credit also goes to those who helped make it available to you. They are: an English professor, Dan Becker (who edited the books), Kim Becker, a professional game designer, and a veteran home-school mom, Dee Dee Laux. Much appreciation also goes to several home school parents from "Light House" who encouraged its creation, and helped develop the instructions.

This curriculum/ game is successfully used in the public and home school environments by parents, teachers and tutors. It is a fun and easy method used to teach children reading, phonics, basic Spanish , name recognition, the alphabet, blending of sounds to form words, and spelling.

The game has everything you need to teach reading for grades K through second (including early reader books), but can also be used to help older children.

Reading Is The Most Important Subject:

If a child struggles with their reading, every other subject is effected. Even worse; these children will often suffer from self-esteem issues that become self fulfilling prophecies. No matter how much teachers and parents try to protect them, the children figure out others are reading, and they are not. It starts as early as kindergarten.

As a tutor I am often given the children who are suffering from the self esteem issues believing they "can't read". Using nothing but this game my success rate with these children is 88.8%, and I guarantee you there is nothing any more special about me than there is about you. A Little Information: you do not have to have a teaching degree to help your child.

1. If your child knows all their Phonic sounds, but is having trouble blending them to form words, the following video can provide very helpful information:

Not all children are affected, but many are. If we discover a child is enunciating some of the phonic sounds incorrectly, we use the game,"Ring Around the Phonics", to correct those sounds, and then use it to teach them to blend the phonic sounds to form words.(see example in the power point presentation above)
